About the Course:

The evidence is compelling that the formation of strategic alliances will continue as a key strategy for business and organizations of all types for years to come. This session will explore the five key factors that you need to include in forming a successful partnership.

Strategic alliances are a great way for two organizations to collaborate without giving up their individual identities. Unlike mergers and acquisitions, strategic partnerships or alliances require creating a framework for working together while remaining separate entities. This session presents the five elements that make up the A.R.I.S.E. platform (Alignment, Resolution, Involvement, Systems, and Equity).

We will review these elements to provide a successful approach to this complex business strategy.

At the end of this session, participants will:

  • Know what strategic alliances are and when they are appropriate
  • Understand  the A.R.I.S.E. model (Alignment, Resolution, Involvement, Systems, and Equity) and how the elements work together
  • Recognize the importance of building and maintaining trust in the alliance
  • Be able to describe how to apply these principles back home

Who is the Target Audience?

  • Responsibility for leading or supporting a strategic alliance or partnership

Curriculum
Total Duration: 1 Hour
Overview

  • The A.R.I.S.E. model is a sensible model to achieve successful collaboration

Alignment

  • Three steps:
    • Leadership agreement,
    • Pubic commitment by leadership, and
    • Understanding and commitment to the vision from top to bottom

Resolution

  • A mechanism for working through issues when there is conflict. This is done at two levels: operational problem solving and resolution of higher-level strategic issues.

Involvement

  • Involving the workforce at all levels of both organizations and engaging them in the success of the enterprise

Systems Thinking

  • Build awareness of the complex nature of this joint collaboration, including the ability to see how people, processes, and technology fit together

Equity

  • Ensure that all stakeholders’ expectations are being met as a result of the collaboration. This means the overall enterprise must achieve the goals set for it, and that individuals feel individuals are treated fairly in the way the alliance is conducted.

Final thought about the issue of trust between the parties
