About the Course:

The UK tax year always starts on 06 April and always involves changes to the many rates and allowances we are responsible for administering. Thankfully, payroll software performs all of the calculations so this manual task does not have to be performed by professionals.

However, even though payroll software does much of the processing, it is essential that professionals know the facts and figures. Although we rely on payroll software, this is not a substitute for having the knowledge ourselves. After all, we have to know what the software is doing when we perform the vital employer task of paying people on time and accurately.

Therefore, the focus of this update is ensuring YOU are aware of what the software should be doing. Sometimes, software can perform this incorrectly, and payroll systems will not talk to our employees or explain the calculations!

For anyone involved in payroll processing, including employees themselves, this course will provide all the information you need to know as we transition from tax year 2024/25 into 2025/26 on 06 April 2025.

Course Objective:

  • Understand the 2025/26 tax year changes: ensuring you are up-to-date
  • Learn best practices: real-life hints and tips will enable you to ensure you are paying on time and accurately
  • Links to guidance: there are many pieces of guidance available, however, this course will give you the links that you need rather than searching for them yourself
  • Maintain compliance: paying people on time and accurately is essential, however, all of this must be done according to the law

  • Anyone who is involved with UK payroll processing needs to attend regardless of who processes the payroll. The target audience, therefore, extends to employers, agents, accountants, bookkeepers and their clients.
