Using Excel for Statistics for the Non-Statisticians

About the Course:

This workshop introduces non-statisticians to essential statistical analysis using Excel’s Data Analysis ToolPak. Participants will learn how to perform statistical calculations effortlessly without prior statistical knowledge or complex Excel formulas. The session focuses on creating descriptive statistics summaries, histograms, and correlation analyses, allowing users to quickly understand data trends and relationships. Through hands-on exercises with pre-provided Excel files, attendees will gain practical skills to apply statistics for everyday decision-making in finance, business, engineering, and other fields.

Course Objectives:

• Download and activate Excel’s Data Analysis ToolPak add-in.
• Explore the 19 statistical applications available in the ToolPak.
• Perform descriptive statistics to summarize datasets (mean, median, standard deviation, etc.).
• Create histograms to visualize frequency distributions.
• Calculate correlations between multiple variables quickly.
• Apply simple forecasting and mathematical formulas using ToolPak features.
• Use Excel for practical, everyday statistical analysis without complex formulas.
